This month in Dark Goddess Collective, we are weaving with Arachne! While not a “Dark Goddess” so to speak, this mortal turned first spider has a magic all her own. Like many of us, harnessing the power of her gifts led to deep transformation.

The Month Ahead
Theme: The Stories We Tell
The deeply held beliefs or stories we spin up in our lives are reflections of where we need to unravel and reweave the fabric of the life we are moving toward. If the narratives and perspectives do not serve us well, why do we hold onto them?
Goddess: Arachne
Arachne, described as a princess of Lydia and one with humble beginnings, was a skilled artisan. As a weaver, she challenged Athena to a weaving contest. Her work was superior to Athena’s and Athena destroyed her work (as pictured in the featured image art from René-Antoine Houasse, 1706). She then turned Arachne into a spider and this is where we got the word arachnid.
Some of what we have planned:
- Black Sacred Candle
- Arachne, Athena, and the stories we tell
- Spider Magic
Of course more may present itself as we move through the month!
A Candle & A Key,
