12 Days of Selfcare ~ Day 2

Day 2 – The Breath

For Day 2, we are going to slow down again but focus on the journey of the breath. Just for 5 minutes. That is it. Even if it is in the bathroom where we can sometimes hide.

Hide a tea light in there, or a battery-operated candle, and light it or turn it on. Close your eyes and breathe.

Breathe in through the nose and picture the journey when it hits your nostrils. Imagine following the breath deeply into the body, through the lungs and through all the cells in your body. Feel the breath invigorating the body, pulling stress and tension away from you as you exhale. Repeat 5 times.

Maybe you can find a few times in the day to check in this way, to bring yourself into the journey of the breath, to release tension and reinvigorate through its release. But for today, we are just engaging in the act of being aware of the journey. Before bed, use your journal to describe how this impacted your day by just doing it once.

Preparing for Day 3

Each day there will be another (smaller) article detailing the current day and the next day, so if you are a planner like I am, you will have time to make the space.

Day 3 – The Hygge Nook

For Day 3, we are going to envision our inner Hygge Nook or draw it out. “Hygge” is a Scandinavian term referring to a feeling of coziness or comfort in a moment or place. Many people are looking to do this as a lifestyle or create home environments that reflect Hygge. Grab your journal and a pen. Hide in the bathroom if you must. Light or turn your candle on.

Now drop your shoulders away from your ears and begin to breathe deeply in through the nose and exhale slower through the mouth. Repeat a few times.

Now envision or outline on paper what your inner Hygge Nook would like like.

  • Does it have fairy lights running along a wall?
  • Does it have Oil Lamps and incense? What does the incense smell like?
  • Is there a chaise with a big chunky knit blanket in your favorite color? What is the texture of the blanket? Does it feel like a velvety cloud? Is there a heavier weight to it? Does it feel like a warm hug when you wrap it around you?
  • Are there any plants or animals? What do they look like?
  • Is there any music?
  • Are there any windows, can you see outside? Are you actually outside, a Nook in the forest?

Continue to breathe and create your Hygge Nook, a place of calm, comfort, and coziness for a minute or two.

Before bed, use your journal to describe how this impacted your day. Feel free to revisit it as often as needed or create a life-sized version if you can!

Building it Up

This is a free series from Dark Goddess Collective and is a part of our December 2021 work. We believe that it is important to empower each other, this includes providing free information that provokes or encourages knowledge of self, of sovereignty, and that which builds intuition. Over the course of 12 days we will be building up a practice of selfcare that invites in the deeper knowledge of self and building up awareness of the importance of Full-hearted selfcare in our practices of magic.

We are building a network of Sovereigns too!

A candle & a key,
Kaycee
