12 Days of Selfcare ~ Day 3

Day 3 – The Hygge Nook

For Day 3, we are going to envision our inner Hygge Nook or draw it out. “Hygge” is a Scandinavian term referring to a feeling of coziness or comfort in a moment or place. Many people are looking to do this as a lifestyle or create home environments that reflect Hygge. Grab your journal and a pen. Hide in the bathroom if you must. Light or turn your candle on.

Now drop your shoulders away from your ears and begin to breathe deeply in through the nose and exhale slower through the mouth. Repeat a few times.

Now envision or outline on paper what your inner Hygge Nook would like like.

  • Does it have fairy lights running along a wall?
  • Does it have Oil Lamps and incense? What does the incense smell like?
  • Is there a chaise with a big chunky knit blanket in your favorite color? What is the texture of the blanket? Does it feel like a velvety cloud? Is there a heavier weight to it? Does it feel like a warm hug when you wrap it around you?
  • Are there any plants or animals? What do they look like?
  • Is there any music?
  • Are there any windows, can you see outside? Are you actually outside, a Nook in the forest?

Continue to breathe and create your Hygge Nook, a place of calm, comfort, and coziness for a minute or two.

Before bed, use your journal to describe how this impacted your day. Feel free to revisit it as often as needed or create a life-sized version if you can!

Preparing for Day 4

Each day there will be another (smaller) article detailing the current day and the next day, so if you are a planner like I am, you will have time to make the space.

Day 4 – Personal Rejuvenation Oil

Some of the best magic I have ever encountered is olfactory magic. Our sense of smell is a way to time travel, to call upon someone, and to remember.

Today we are going to create a personal rejuvenation oil to uplift our sense of wellness and calm. I highly recommend creating an oil that speaks to you and brings you to a place of calm awareness. Before you begin, take a moment with each oil you plan on using. Maybe hold it to your heart so it can feel into what you need. Focus on allowing it to help you reach your desired state.

Here is a sample recipe:

In a small jar (make sure it has a lid), pour 4 TBSP of olive oil.

Add in (while holding your intention for each oil):

  • 10 drops of Lavender
  • 8 drops of Bergamot
  • 3 drops of Patchouli

To activate the calm and revitalizing properties, place lid on the jar and swirl the jar clockwise.

Place a drop on wrists and at the heart center. This creates a triangle of intention, whatever you are doing today will be connected to a rejuvenated sense of creativity and heart awareness.

Before bed, use your journal to describe how this impacted your day.

Building it Up

This is a free series from Dark Goddess Collective and is a part of our December 2021 work. We believe that it is important to empower each other, this includes providing free information that provokes or encourages knowledge of self, of sovereignty, and that which builds intuition. Over the course of 12 days we will be building up a practice of selfcare that invites in the deeper knowledge of self and building up awareness of the importance of Full-hearted selfcare in our practices of magic.

We are building a network of Sovereigns too! Stay tuned!

A candle & a key,
Kaycee
