This month at Dark Goddess Collective, we are working with Themis and a different modality of tapping into the Divine Feminine. You see, we are in the time of connecting differently to enact change on a different level.
Many understand Themis as the one who sat on the stool, inhaling the gasses at Delphi and provided the riddles to be translated by those in power.
However, the more I open my own channels of perception I have come to understand that Themis is more like the actual connection between the universe and us. She is more than justice, she is the natural connection between our everyday perception and the liminal, universal truths.
Strategic Altar of Power
We are historically sitting in a space and place where we need our magic to come together. This is not just about politics but about our ability to create change through our power with each other for everyone. The systems as they stand are no longer working and it is going to get a whole lot messier before it gets better. That is okay. That is why we can use this altar to get our house in order, through our connection to Themis, our call to the ancestors, the dead, the spirits of place, and the stars as a multi-pronged approach.
How to Create Your Own Altar
I used the sigil to Themis as the backdrop. Many of the symbols used within the sigil are astrology based, including this Full Moon in Aries – to highlight and illuminate what we must call in to connect with and be inspired by.
I added the first gift of the Season from the Universe that I found as the wheel started turning. The Black Sacred Candle for Themis, a small bowl for offerings (Mugwort, Rose, and Dittany, I made add other things every day), a talisman of power that guided me through an initiation (as a key to open the door to this one), and bones.
Both human and serpent bones are, to me, a powerful connection to the DNA of power and wisdom. I added an additional item, not pictured, of the mighty dead I wish to call in. Add multiple if you like. I am calling it down and I am calling it up. Just as Themis would.
