Hygeia: Sitting in The Pause

Every now and again a facet of the Divine Feminine or a Goddess comes through bringing the unexpected. Hygeia, as loving as she has presented herself, is one that highlights what is carried in the dark or disharmony. She forces the sacred pause to unearth what must be brought into the light, or into our consciousness, and sitting with it becomes the remedy.

The Uncomfortable

I love Goddesses that drag me, kicking and screaming, from one place to another. The ones who are not polite. The Goddesses that are feared because they can be brutal in their lessons and their medicine creates a visceral reaction in the body.

I know I’m going to be uncomfortable and I’m prepared for it.

I know it’s going to be moving, I know it’s going to force me to work hard, and it’s going to be challenging.

Hygeia doesn’t drag anyone to any place. She orchestrates a crumbling, the earthquakes of life, and she does it exactly where we stand. Then she throws us a shovel, because we’re going nowhere any time soon from the crevice we’ve found ourselves in.  As she sits with us, we can connect deeper and she’ll point us toward the places to dig.

Connecting Deeper

While March of 2024 has been termed “Hot Mess March” because nothing went as planned, the fruits of connecting deeper have been worthwhile. As we each experienced the earthquakes, we collaboratively shared the ways in which we found ourselves connecting deeper to Hygeia and some of the powerful remedies we have found. I have been given permission to share with a wider audience (because this is how we ripple!).

Incense to Honor and Invoke Hygeia

This comes to us from the fabulous Rayne McLoughlin of Dark Goddess Collective and InflowArtbyRayne!

She first spoke to me on a journey guided by our lovely Tania Ciolek through the language of the flowers. I received one of the most intense healing sessions of my life through the visualizations I experienced in that journey. I was enveloped in lilies and knew that I needed to work with them for more healing.

I then set out to make my Black Sacred Candle and called Hygeia through meditation. I sensed her in my garden as my intuition called me to one plant and then to another. Then to my dried herbs and oils in my apothecary to mix a potent spell.

I share this with you now and invite you to harken into your garden and listen to the Spring as it unfolds and blooms. THERE IS MAGIC EVERYWHERE!!! Hygeia is everywhere calling us to the truths of our health and wellness. It could be as simple as the joy of smelling a lily, or as deep as sipping Mugwort tea that you have cultivated yourself. I encourage you to use what calls to you and add as much or as little as you like. Intuition and feeling are the keys here.

The magic is within you.

Materials I used:

  1. White Lily
  2. Frankincense
  3. Myrrh
  4. Whole Clove
  5. Star Anise
  6. Benzoin
  7. Juniper

*Dry all ingredients and then use a mortar and pestle to marry ingredients together. Burn a little each day when lighting the BSC in meditation to call in HYGEIA.

Clear Breathing Tea

This amazing tea comes to us from our very own Tania Ciolek of Howling Baubo

Everything feels heavy and light, balanced and unbalanced, happy and sad. I am living in the land of opposites and holding that tension with my muscles straining. I haven’t worked with Hygeia as closely as I’ve wanted, but I still feel her presence in the work that I’m doing. I was sick for the lunar eclipse and a tea recipe came to me, I know that was Hygeia sending me an extra dose of what I needed. She’s been with me in the background of all this chaos.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Dittany
  • .5 tsp Mint
  • 1 tsp Honey

The honey really helps cut down the oregano taste and it was actually very enjoyable with the mint! I usually use Oregano tincture for sneezing, running nose, or respiratory issues but this worked beautifully and was just what I needed.
