As we prepare for Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s a great time to understand the spirit of Fire!The Summer Solstice reminds me that we are officially not just watching the fire of the season rise, but that nature has a way of fanning the flames (I mean, it is Gemini Season…the air is swirling for sure!). In witches, healers, priestesses, and practitioners of magic, we often feel the power of this season in a type of frenetic shift to outward movement and connection.
What flames are you fanning?
The above divination was wildly helpful during New Witch, Who Dis 2024, but what if we added additional cards:
- What fires do I fan that offer an abundance of what I seek?
- Where must I use caution to avoid burning out?
- What will be my salve if I find the flames are too hot?

The Element of Fire
The elemental spirit of Fire is seen and felt in many ways! Here are some of the ways you can get to know Fire:
Plants
- Look for signatures of Fire through flowers of plants that are yellow or orange (Dandelion, Sunflower, Calendula).
- Plants that are known to increase heat or sting (Stinging Nettle, Cayenne Pepper, Ginger).

Ourselves
Fire relates to an expansive, upward and outward expression. It’s movement, it’s the increased heart rate, the output of who we are. Examples of this include creative pursuits or expansive ideas we put into motion. Within the body it’s our cardiovascular and digestive systems. Think about it, we take the fire of plants (fruits) and place it into the fire of the human body (digestive system) and then dissolve it into nutrients!
At the heart of it all, Fire is about transformation.
Consider the following:
- What transformation are you nurturing within and around you?
- What changes do you notice in your body during this time?
- How are you nurturing your own fire of transformation?
